Baby Oscar’s Newborn Session

There’s something incredibly special about photographing a newborn in the comfort of their own home, and baby Oscar’s newborn session in Banff, Aberdeenshire was no exception. At just 12 days old, Oscar was an absolute dream to photograph. As an Aberdeenshire newborn photographer, I’m lucky enough to meet lots of wonderful babies, but Oscar was particularly memorable – he slept beautifully and didn’t cry once throughout the entire session!

For this session, I packed up my portable mini studio and travelled to the family home in Banff, creating a relaxed and comfortable environment where everyone could enjoy the experience without having to leave the house. Home newborn sessions are becoming increasingly popular with families across Banff, Macduff, Fraserburgh, Turriff, Peterhead, Ellon, Inverurie, Huntly, and throughout Aberdeenshire.

A Relaxed Newborn Photography Experience at Home

One of the biggest advantages of choosing an at-home newborn session is that everything your baby needs is right there. Parents can relax, feed, change and cuddle their little one whenever needed, while I create beautiful, timeless newborn portraits.

Oscar settled straight away and slept soundly through most of the session. At just 12 days old, he was at the perfect age for newborn photography, allowing me to gently pose him in a variety of setups. Wrapped snugly in soft blankets and nestled into cosy textures, he looked completely content from start to finish.

As an Aberdeenshire newborn photographer, my aim is always to create natural, heartfelt images that capture those tiny details you never want to forget – the little fingers, tiny toes, soft eyelashes, and peaceful expressions that change so quickly in those first few weeks.

Capturing Precious Family Connections

Alongside the individual newborn portraits, I also captured some beautiful family photographs. These images often become the most treasured of all, documenting those very first days together as a family.

The images of Oscar being cradled by his parents perfectly showcase the love and connection already growing between them. The close-up photographs of his tiny feet and hands highlight just how small he was at this fleeting stage of life.

These are the moments that pass in the blink of an eye, which is why professional newborn photography is such a worthwhile investment for many families across the North East of Scotland.

Why Choose a Newborn Session Within the First Two Weeks?

Newborn sessions are ideally carried out when babies are between 5 and 14 days old. During this stage, they tend to be sleepier, curl naturally into those beautiful newborn poses, and are generally more settled.

Oscar was the perfect example of this. At 12 days new, he was calm, content, and happy to snooze throughout the session, allowing us to create a wonderful gallery of images for his family to cherish forever.

Baby Oscar’s session was a joy from beginning to end, and it was such a privilege to capture these precious first memories for his family. I’m sure they’ll treasure these photographs for many years to come.
