Second Shooting Nicole & Zara’s Beautiful Schivas Steading Wedding

I had the pleasure of second shooting Nicole and Zara’s wedding at the stunning Schivas Steading near Ellon for the incredibly talented Annie Rees Photography. It’s always a privilege to work alongside photographers whose approach you love, and Annie created such a relaxed, fun atmosphere throughout the day.

Schivas Steading provided the perfect backdrop, with its beautiful stone buildings, modern ceremony space and spectacular countryside views. Every corner offered another opportunity for stunning photographs.

Nicole and Zara’s ceremony was filled with laughter, happy tears and so much genuine emotion. Watching them finally say “I do” surrounded by their family and friends was a real privilege to capture. Afterwards, everyone spilled outside for confetti, group photographs and plenty of hugs before the celebrations really got underway.

The entertainment throughout the day was fantastic. Guests were treated to music from the wonderful live singer Joyful, whose vocals created the perfect atmosphere during the drinks reception. Later came the surprise appearance of the Singing Waiters, who had everyone laughing, singing and dancing in no time. By the evening, The Big Papas had taken over and kept the dance floor packed right through until the end of the night.

It was also great to be working alongside Niall from Wee Wedding Films. Having such a fab videographer on the team always makes the day run smoothly, with everyone working together to capture every important moment without getting in each other’s way.

As a second photographer, I love being able to document the moments happening beyond the main events—the guests sharing stories, children enjoying the celebrations, spontaneous laughter on the dance floor, and all those little interactions that help tell the complete story of the day. Looking back through the images, it’s those candid moments that really bring the memories to life.
