Busy busy!

I’m sure it must have been lovely to be furloughed during the main lockdown period...it certainly looked that way whilst my partner was furloughed. I wouldn’t know though personally, it’s been an absolutely crazy busy time for me!

As some of you may know I work for Aberdeen University, teaching and supporting pedagogical approaches to online learning... and since the university has gone 100% online since March I have been working hard at that job from my home office helping members of staff make the transition to online teaching as seamless as possible, as well as help with online exams. Not to mention homeschooling (although it has been more than wonderful to be able to spend time with my family, more so than we could have ever had in normal times).... now that was all exhausting in itself... however here are some of my photographic escapades since the start of lockdown too....

Facetime Sessions

I provided facetime sessions for maternity photographs, and indoor portraits, as well as photographing one of my wedding couples who were booked for April, but had to postpone.

Doorstep Sessions

I hadn’t planned on providing doorstep sessions at all, but when I was contacted three times in the space of half an hour asking if I would provide them, I thought “why not?!” And I’m so pleased I did, I provided sessions around my local area, incorporating the travel into my weekly visit to the supermarket or when I was delivering food to my parents. I met lots of lovely people and even finally managed to meet all of my neighbours!

Garden Sessions

I have now stopped providing doorstep sessions and have now moved on to providing longer Garden Sessions. The first of which I was asked to photograph a ‘Should have been our wedding day’ picnic.

My Own Projects

My little girl has been photographed to bits since the start of lockdown! As well as we have collected a lot more Playmobil figures... specifically wedding themed Playmobil so that I could conduct a Playmobil wedding and photograph it, which was a lot of fun! We found all sorts of bits and pieces locally on Facebook marketplace for fantastic prices, as well as incorporating bits and pieces that we already had.

Now that we have a bit more freedom to travel, I am now keen To get back out to photograph landscapes the first of which was a trip up to the Bow Fiddle Rock and Tarlair Swimming Pool on the Moray Coast.

Wedding Bookings

I have received lots of lovely wedding bookings for All sorts of gorgeous sounding weddings, from a wedding in Edinburgh Castle (which I am rather excited about) to another tiny elopement ceremony (where myself and my partner will be the witnesses) near Aviemore... not to mention a fabulous wedding down near Dumfries next summer, as well as all you wonderful Aberdeen/shire based weddings too starting potentially this month (fingers crossed!).

I am so excited to start photographing weddings and elopements again as soon as possible - I love how many of you have adapted your plans to meet new restrictions, and also how my brides and grooms who were booked for this Spring and summer have all been so considerate and fab when it comes to working with me to find a suitable date to postpone their weddings to.
